I think I’m going to start a new series called “A Short Girl Wears… ” because there are a lot of fashion styles and trends that sometimes only work for us shorties when we put in some effort.

Take maxi dresses, for example. When you stand just over 5 feet tall, it’s hard to find a cute maxi dress that doesn’t drag the floor and trip you up every five steps, so they often have to be hemmed. I was delighted to find that the length of this maxi dress was pretty much perfect sans alteration! Well, I did have to have the shoulders hemmed because they were too long, but that’s a common problem I have as someone who has a high waist.

I’ve worn this dress to brunch club, my nephew’s birthday party, and to work on casual Friday, and I’ve received a ton of compliments on it. I think it’s because the floral pattern is so pretty and really pops against the dark blue fabric. Plus, it’s just a pretty dress!

Unfortunately, it isn’t a very good nursing dress because the top doesn’t stretch enough to pull down under my chest and, well, it has a long skirt. During the parties, I did have to excuse myself to an empty room and lift the skirt all the way up to nurse Sebastian, which was really awkward, but these are the sacrifices one must make to be a mommy fashionista 😉

Have y’all heard about the big changes coming to Target? They’re going to discontinue some of their most popular clothing brands and introduce 12 new ones. Yes, dear friends, Mossimo and Merona are going away and will probably never return. Personally, I have mixed feelings. I liked these brands but I’m excited to see what new things they have in store. The Who What Wear brand seems to be pretty popular and I like a lot of what I see of them, but I wasn’t a big fan of the Victoria Beckham line, to be frank. So, I guess it could go either way. We’ll just have to wait and see!
