I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! We celebrated the unofficial end of summer by eating delicious food at Durham’s Food Truck Rodeo and having a night in with our neighbors on Sunday and by watching a lot of Netflix on Monday. It was pretty awesome. Luckily the weather was great all weekend because we had to turn off our air conditioner yesterday due to a possible freon leak — the house started to smell like band-aids every time the air would kick on, so weird — and the techs are coming out this afternoon to check things out. Other than that, we had a pretty uneventful weekend.
But this is my end-of-summer outfit. Warm enough for a sleeveless blouse and close enough to Fall for cute open-toe booties. Wearing boots in the summer can be super stylish, but I’m just now getting comfortable wearing them in warm weather. It actually took me a while to come around to wearing booties at all, which is silly because they *are* so stylish. They’ve become one of my go-to shoe choices.
On Monday morning, while Nick and Sebastian slept, I drank my coffee on our back deck. The air was crisp and the morning dew lightly coated the patio table and chairs. The birds chirped and playfully hopped through the branches in the trees. The sun peered through the clouds, creating a sweet halo of light around the yard, and it was pure bliss. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before but this is my favorite time of year. While I am very ready for Autumn, I’m glad we still have several weeks of warm weather here in NC. I don’t have to put up my tanks and tees just yet, but I can break out the comfy sweater cardis. I really love those things! And I love those beautiful, cool mornings!
Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed your four-day work week. I know I’ve already started counting down for this weekend when I can relax all over again 🙂

We had a similar issue with our AC but it ended up needing a new core system. Hope it all works out and they fix it sooner rather than later! PS – I Love a classic black top and jeans! Those booties are too cute!
You look so pretty! I love your outfit! That food truck rodeo sounds like so much fun!
Oh I almost went to the food truck rodeo this weekend! But I remembered it a little too late to shower and put on real clothes in time (haha I spent all Saturday running and cleaning…not a good look for going out). And oh gosh, the weather has been *perfect* for sitting out on the patio in the morning drinking coffee, and you have such a cute mug! I keep meaning to get some Durham gear like that 🙂
I’m with you on loving these last few weeks of warm but not blazing hot summer! And, I was also slow to come around to booties. Yours look great on you!
I love this outfit! The booties are so cute!
I am with you on the booties. It has taken me a while to get used to them as well. But now I am having trouble finding ones without too high of a heel.
I have yet to go to the Durham Food Rodeo but it’s on my list of things to check out! Durham is somewhere I need to do some more exploring. Love your sandals, they will transition nicely into the fall NC weather!

The Food Truck Rodeo is a lot of fun, and the food is great. We make it a point to try a new truck each time we go. You really should check it out and then let me know what you think!
How did you not know about the stylish booties before now! Booties are the best aren’t they! You look amazing now them! What others do you own?
Oh, I knew about them, I just didn’t think I could pull them off. I’m being brave and taking chances and they’re paying off, for sure 🙂
That is a great transition outfit! I hope the A/C repair people can fix your unit. Thank goodness for great temps. We have loved opening our windows this past weekend. My husband and I ventured out to Carrboro Sunday and found a fun restaurant/bar/pool hall.
xo, Lee
That sounds so cool. What restaurant/bar was it? Maybe I’ll head out that way and check it out, too!
you look ADORABLE! also, it was awesome to see you last week! 🙂
Thanks Molly. It was so awesome to see you too. I’m mad at myself for waiting so long to finally come to an event, but now I can’t wait for the next one!
You are so cute! I am sad to see summer go, but I love fall.
What a wonderful weekend recap! Summer is my fave season , so for me its not the end just yet. I’m going by the calendar..lol
It sounds like you had a very relaxed end-of-summer weekend! I love your Durham coffee mug too, it’s so cute!
Thanks, Kate. It’s my favorite coffee mug. I use it just about every morning 🙂
