October is one of our favorite months, probably for all of the obvious reason (fall, Halloween, etc.) but also for some other, lesser known reasons. Since October is just around the corner, as in two days from now, I thought I would share a few of the reasons we perk up a little more around this time of year.
Maybe this one is a given, but North Carolina has amazing festivals (mostly food festivals) all over the state in the month of October. Growing up, I attended the Apple Festival every year in Wilkesboro. There’s also a Livermush Festival in Shelby, NC. We haven’t been to that one yet, but someday we’ll make it. You’re either a native (or married to a native in Nick’s case) or very brave if you’ve tried – and love – livermush. In central NC, you have the NC State Fair. At the coast, there’s the NC Seafood Festival, which is also on our list. October is a good month for festivals.
