How gorgeous is the beading on this tank? I fell for it as soon as I saw it. It’s a little heavier than a normal tank with all the beading and it *kind of* feels like I’m wearing a suit of armor (or at least that chain/mesh hand glove they use at restaurants when cutting meat), but it’s so pretty.
I wore this outfit for dinner at our house. Nick invited his coworker and coworker’s girlfriend over for dinner because they are in town from Argentina. It was such a fun night, and I really enjoyed learning about their culture. It’s so different and yet so similar to our own here in the U.S. It also made me realize how much I miss speaking Spanish and learning about other cultures so I might start taking some classes and make more of an effort to immerse myself so that I can be fluent again. It’s true that if you don’t use it you lose it. Stay in school, kids.

What a beautiful tank, Nikki! I like how it looks dressed down a little bit like you did here, but I could also see you pairing it with a pencil skirt and heels for a date night 🙂 Your dinner sounds like it was awesome – I took a ton of Spanish in high school and I absolutely LOVED it. I’m slowly trying to reteach it to myself (since I haven’t taken a Spanish class in like 10 years), and I’m actually pretty pleasantly surprised by how much I remember!
Brynn, that’s awesome. I’ve always loved Spanish and used it a lot in undergrad and in a few of my jobs but I haven’t used it enough to stay fluent. It is great how quickly it all comes back, though, when you’re around it more often. I’m trying to get Nick to take some classes with me but he’d rather learn French (since his father spoke it when he was a kid). I’ll get back into it someday!
That top is insanely gorgeous! How neat to have that couple over from Argentina! Since you said you miss speaking Spanish, were you practicing at all that night? What were you surprised to learn about their culture?
Thanks, Lauren! Unfortunately, I was too rusty (and shy) to practice my Spanish but my goal for this year is to take some classes or join some conversation groups again so that I can build my vocabulary back up and feel more confident around native Spanish speakers. Most of what we talked about, though, were the differences in the similarities, if that makes sense. For example, their wedding celebrations are very similar to ours here in the states except that they start much later (like around 7 PM) and the receptions last well into the night. In fact, some venues will include breakfast in their packages because receptions will often go from about 9 or 10 PM until 6 AM! How fun is that?! I absolutely love learning about new cultures.
