There was supposed to be sunshine today, which would have made my photos look much better, but c’est la vie. Instead, you get crazy pants photos! They’re a plaid/gingham pattern (I’m still learning the difference between the two) and were part of the Spring Mad Men collection at Banana Republic. Since I’m wearing this ensemble to class (and because it’s still a little chilly outside from no sun light!), I decided to dress it down a bit by pairing it with the denim jacket.
The shirt looks blueish but it’s actually a soft kelly green, so I added a green bag to go with the soft green of the shirt; keeping it all in the same color pallet.
Here’s the nice detail of the pants. See, they’re not too crazy. But seriously, don’t stare at this photo too long because it might hurt your eyes!
Close up of the necklace. I LOVE this thing. I get the most complements on it. Apologies, again, for the lighting. This necklace is a slightly darker gray in person. But still beautiful!
What’s the craziest thing in your closet? How often do you wear it?
Only twice have I purchased a specific item that was featured on a blogger’s website, mostly because I just don’t have enough money to buy everything I see that I like. Back in December, I pinned this awesome outfit from Bows and Sequins because I loved how she paired the sequin shirt with a plaid button-front, making it a little more casual yet still glamorous. I quickly started a search for a sequin shirt so I could recreate this outfit. Almost a year later I still hadn’t found a sequin shirt that I love. Until now! I’ve driven by this cute little thrift shop on my to the gym for a while and finally decided to stop and go in. After looking over the entire store, I land on the EXACT SEQUIN SHIRT FROM THE PIN! Y’all, I am never this lucky and I felt like I hit the pinspiration jackpot! I snatched it up and purchased it immediately.
My husband and I attended a college football game this weekend, and their colors are red, white, and black, so I decided to wear this outfit. My husband took the first photo and his priority was to get the wolf statue in the background (the school’s mascot) and neglected to get my shoes. I’ve included a photo of them below. They’re just simple little flats.
Have you had any jackpot finds?
This is the most comfy, cozy sweater I own, and it’s perfect for Fall and Winter. I think it looks nice left completely open like in the first photo but it can feel a little bulky so I tend to belt it at the waist. When it gets really cold outside, I pull out the boots. I love the all-neutrals look and I think next time I’ll try pairing it with black denim.
I wear this necklace almost every day. I would like to find a charm-style bracelet that I can wear with it.
What is the most cozy thing you own?
It’s a rainy day here in my world. I used to hate going out in the rain because I wore jeans and/or sandals and my feet would get so wet, and that’s one of my least favorite things ever. Only recently, after reading on a fashion blog somewhere that the best rainy day outfit was a dress and boots, did I realize that I didn’t have to get my feet and jeans wet when it rains. So I started pairing cute dresses with nice boots.
Even better than that, last Christmas Nick gave me a pair of rain boots that I wear all the time. Even when it isn’t raining!
Rain boots are the best invention ever. If you don’t have a pair, I strongly recommend them. They’ll change your life!
What is your rainy day uniform?
