New Year, New Things

February 20, 2012 by Nikki No Comments

full spread

We’re almost through February 2012 and I have to say that this year has been really good for me so far.

I started out strong with my health and fitness motivation where Nick and I regularly visited the gym several times a week for a whole month in preparation of our upcoming 5K race. We’ve slacked off the last few weeks but our motivation is still strong so I’m confident we’ll be back in the swing of things in no time.

I’ve also been following through with my New Year’s resolution. The first new thing that I tried (twice, actually) was a pole fitness class which was so much fun that I’d love to do it again and again. I’m sure I’d be a great pole dancer! Another first, that I probably wouldn’t have done without setting my resolution, was to cook dinner for a co-worker who just had a baby and her family.

Pole Kitten

I’m sure by now you’ve read about my New Year’s Resolution, but if not, it’s okay. I still love you. To fill you in, my 2012 New Year’s Resolution (NYR) is to try at least 6 new things, averaging out to about 1 every two months, or more if I can fit them in.

Tonight, I tried my first new thing: I attended an introduction to pole dance fitness class at Aradia Fitness! And I had a blast. It was a teaser class, meaning you only got a little taste of all the sexy, fun workouts they offer, but it was enough to get me thinking about taking more classes and it was perfect for someone like me who had been wanting to give it a try but was too scared/nervous/hesitant, etc.

New Year’s Resolutions

December 21, 2011 by Nikki 1 Comment

It’s that time of year again! 2011 is slowly coming to a close. Christmas (for those who celebrate) is this weekend and Hanukkah (for those who celebrate) has just begun. And Kwanzaa (again, for those who celebrate) is next week. Then there’s my personal favorite, the winter solstice! The new year is right around the corner and we’re all probably thinking about our New Year’s Resolution. Okay, maybe not all of us, but I’ve been thinking about mine. Like most people, every year I make a resolution about some big life change that I’m adamant about, like saving money or eating better, and I swear that I’m going to stick to it come hell or high water and then by January 14, it’s already forgotten. But this year, I’ve come up with something pretty good. And it’s so good that I’m actually really excited about it and have plans to start it early.
