I wore this outfit to my very last day of graduate school. I had lunch with my work crew (my professor, classmate, and coworker) and then I spent the afternoon in the library, finishing up my last final, and I ended up at the bar with my best friend, enjoying some celebratory drinks. It was probably the best Monday ever! I was feeling very spring-y so I decided to pair turquoise with yellow, which I probably wouldn’t normally do, even though it looks great. Later that week, I switched out the white pants for white shorts and ran some errands and did some shopping in preparation for hosting my family for Graduation/Mothers’ Day weekend.

This shirt was a birthday gift from my sister-in-law. She has great taste, doesn’t she?!

And here’s the fun one: I was running out of pose ideas so I just started twirling. It kind of looks like I’m surfing! I do wish I was at the beach right now…

If you’ve spent any time at all in North Carolina, you might know that the weather can get a little unpredictable these days. One day it’s warm and sunny, then literally the next day it is snowing. This is a true story and I’ve experienced it a few times, actually. That’s kind of what happened with this outfit. I wore it to work and to class on a Wednesday about a week or so ago, but it was a warm, sunny day so I opted for cognac flats and had no need for tights. It was in the upper 70s so I ended up taking off the scarf and jacket because I got too hot! Fast forward to about two to three days later when I was able to take a photo of it, and it’s almost frigid outside so I had to add the tights and boots.

Since then we’ve had several more ups and downs with the weather. Just yesterday it was so nice out that I took the dogs for a walk in just a shirt and yoga pants. I don’t remember it always being like this in NC but I have to admit that I’m not loving it now because it makes dressing (and packing for my commute) extremely difficult. I wish I would just pick one and stick to it for a while!

I absolutely adore Simply Lulu Style, and I became an even bigger fan of Lulu when I found out she’s a shorty like me, at 5’1″, because it proves that petite women can look sophisticated and grown up. When I saw this outfit, I pinned it right away because I loved everything about it: crisp white jeans, bright top, and denim jacket. Really, I love pretty much everything Lulu puts together. That woman knows how to dress!

I wore this outfit a few weeks ago during finals. In a way, I seemed to be a little overdressed for last-minute studying in the library and then taking an exam, but it was so cute that I wanted to wear it . Besides, as Oscar Wilde/the internet says, you can never be overdressed or overeducated so it seemed fitting to get dressed up to ace an exam! 😉

On Saturday, we had a few people over for a day of grilling burgers and hot dogs, drinking beer, and playing cornhole and Cards Against Humanity in the back yard. We were outside for a good 12 hours, from noon to 1 AM. When we started, it was beautiful out, very sunny and warm so I wore this almost-halter top and shorts. Why does navy and pink look so good paired together? I seriously could wear this color combo every day.

As the day went on, I kept adding layers. First, this cardigan. The top and shorts alone are cute, but the cardigan adds a nice finishing touch to the outfit, which is what makes this (and any outfit) look so put together, in my opinion.

Then, the sun went down and I got a little cold so I put on my denim jacket. I put it on over the cardigan for a little extra warmth while we were playing some night-time cornhole. By the end of the night, I was wrapped up in a blanket because it got pretty cold.

We had a lot of fun this weekend, and probably drank too much beer, but it was nice to have a fun weekend before the summer school session gets going full-swing.

1 Piece 3 Ways: Striped Top | NCsquared Life

Today I’m linking up with Work Clothes I Suppose and the theme is remix! So I’m showing one piece worn three ways. I practically lived in this top this past weekend so I thought it was a great candidate for the link up. I wore the first outfit for a day of shopping and running errands. Then I changed into these drapey/almost harem pants and heels to go to a small dinner party at a friend’s house. I wore the last outfit while travelling on our last daycation this past August.
