I know, I know. I’m almost 26 years old and I’ve never flown in an airplane. But that will change as of October 2, 2010!

It probably would have taken even longer than this (something along the lines of a honeymoon in like 2-3 years) but my job is sending me to the American Public Health Association conference in Denver in early November and the thought of flying all by myself for the first time filled me with indescribable anxiety. So Nick, being the most wonderful boyfriend that he is, agreed to take me on a flight before November so I’ll at least have stepped foot in an airport.

Our plans are actually pretty cool. We’re big fans of Food Network. One of his christmas presents from me was Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and we thought it was super cool when we went to Dish in Charlotte because it had been featured on the show. So, he came up with the idea that we would pick a restaurant that had been featured on one of the shows we always watch and fly there to eat. Very Pretty-Womanesque don’t you think? (Remember how they flew to San Francisco just for the opera?)

So where are we going?!

The show we chose was The Best Thing I Ever Ate… Crunchy and the restaurant we chose was Flo’s Clam Shack in Middletown, Rhode Island!

I’m going to be eating some fried clam strips and crabcakes and “chowda” and almost everything from the fresh raw bar, YUM! Or maybe if I’m really hungry, I’ll order Flo’s Fisherman Platter with clams, clam strips, calamari, shrimp, scallops, a piece of fish, and topped off with a clamcake …… all for just 19.95!

I can’t wait. I’ve never been to Rhode Island and I’ve never flown in a plane. What an adventure!

So, if anyone has any tips for me regarding flying, the plane or Rhode Island (weather, maybe other places to see if you know of any) please let me know! I’ll take any and all advice that you’ll give. I’ll also be sure to take plenty of photos and post for your viewing pleasure.

Stay tuned…!
