I don’t have a whole lot to say about this outfit except that before I started reading style blogs, I never would have worn stripes with polkda dots. However, I did hear one of the nurses at the clinic where I intern once a week say that he knew “stripes and dots don’t mix” and I had to hold my tongue because, as you can see, sir, they most certainly do!
I thought about wearing my new pink sandals but I didn’t want to go overboard with the pink, so I opted for the white canvas shoes instead. Shorts and Keds definitely take my back to my childhood because I lived in them every summer.
It was way too hot out for a cardigan so it had to go! We were lucky at got these photos in just before it started raining, so it was really muggy out, too. Ugh, sometimes summer is just too much.
This is the charm bracelet Nick got me this past Valentine’s Day and of course I adore it (mostly because I picked it out, hehe). I would like to add an ampersand charm and another ‘n’ charm. Maybe even a c. And maybe a 2 to make it squared!
Top, Shorts & Cardigan: Old Navy
Shoes & Belt: Target
Earrings & Necklace: Wal-Mart
Bracelet: Etsy
Oh my gosh, Nikki! That bracelet is so great! I love how delicate it is – I’m not much of a bracelet wearer, but with one as petite and simple as that, I’d definitely give it a shot!!
You know, Brynn, I’m not much of a bracelet wearer either because my wrists are so freakishly small that it’s hard to find anything that fits well without sliding right off, but this one stays on very well. I will admit that I’ve broken it several times by getting it caught on things but Nick is able to fix it pretty easily so I guess that’s okay. Still a little disappointing though. If it weren’t so cute I would probably just give up!
Those two definitely go together! I have learned that pattern mixing works as long as both patterns have a color in common. Your top and shorts both have white in them so they pair together nicely š
Thanks, Lauren. I was thinking that the simplicity of the colors in both pieces would work well together, and you’re right that the white is what brings them together! I’m still a little timid when it comes to pattern mixing, but I think I’m getting better!
Stripes and dots are basically meant to go together! This looks great!
Thank you, Andi. And thanks so much for stopping by; I look forward to following your blog!
How cute is your bracelet?! Love it–and this whole look of subtle pattern mixing is perfect š Pink is def. your color!

Tori, I never really thought of pink as being my color, but I do like it! Now that you mention it, I can see it. I think I’ll have to add more of it into my wardrobe!
