Maxi skirts are great for summer! They’re light and airy, and I really like how they blow in the wind. This maxi and floral top are from my Mother’s Day shopping spree. I was a little concerned about the color and whether I would be able to pair it with enough tops, but in the end I decided it was definitely worth it the risk because it’s so pretty. I wore this outfit to have lunch with Nick, and then go grocery shopping with Sebastian. Lately my days consist of playing with Sebastian, grocery shopping, and then going for after-dinner walks in the evenings. It’s really nice but I think I’m ready to get back out there into the working world. And this outfit is perfect for doing just that!

I wore this outfit to my very last day of graduate school. I had lunch with my work crew (my professor, classmate, and coworker) and then I spent the afternoon in the library, finishing up my last final, and I ended up at the bar with my best friend, enjoying some celebratory drinks. It was probably the best Monday ever! I was feeling very spring-y so I decided to pair turquoise with yellow, which I probably wouldn’t normally do, even though it looks great. Later that week, I switched out the white pants for white shorts and ran some errands and did some shopping in preparation for hosting my family for Graduation/Mothers’ Day weekend.

This shirt was a birthday gift from my sister-in-law. She has great taste, doesn’t she?!

And here’s the fun one: I was running out of pose ideas so I just started twirling. It kind of looks like I’m surfing! I do wish I was at the beach right now…

After all of the snow last week, which I’m blaming for my absence, it’s finally starting to warm up. I’m glad, too, because I’ve had enough snow, rain, wind, and cold; I’m ready for sunshine and warm breezes! I went to my best friend’s baby shower this weekend so this is what I wore. Also, you may or may not have noticed that I chopped all of my hair off. I had no intention of going this short (which I realize isn’t THAT much shorter but it sure feels like it) but I went to a new hair dresser and she butchered it! The cut is really difficult to work with and I find myself using three different hair-styling tools to get it too look decent. Oh well, it’ll grow.

I’m loving this floral blouse because it goes with every cardigan and blazer in my closet, meaning it’ll to get so much wear this spring and summer. I love pairing this plum-y cardigan with my turquoise flats and when you put it all together, it’s so Springy that it makes me happy! And the weather was just warm enough on Saturday that I didn’t have to wear my big red wool coat and there was so much sunshine that I just couldn’t help but smile.

You can probably tell when I really like an outfit by the number of photos I post of it. The more comfortable I feel in my clothes, the more I like the outfit and the more photos I take. I think clothes can really enhance your confidence and, for me, it shows because I get a lot of cute picutres out of it. This one is probably my new favorite outfit, though. I’ve worn this to dinner with friends, to class and to work, and for hanging out. And I would wear it every day if I could. When I think about my signature style these days, this is it: a cute top, a cardigan, a scarf, and comfy shoes. It doesn’t get much better than that.

I purchased this scarf on sale at a cute little boutique during a conference trip to Wilmington last week. I loved the plumy colors but I didn’t realize it would match this cargidan so well until I got home and put them together. I chose the turquoise flats to break up all the plum, and I have to say that I’m absolutely loving the plum/turquoise combo. Ahh, there’s just so much to love about this little outfit.

Here’s the fun one: I had so much fun with the Bloopers post last week that I’ve decided to add one as my fun post whenever I have a good one from a shoot. In this one, I was looking up at a plane in the sky. For some reason, the plane looked weird to me so it caught my attention and Nick caught that in this photo!

I often have trouble deciding what shoes to wear with an outfit. Sometimes it’s because part of me wants comfort while the other part wants style and, honestly, not every shoe I have gives me both. Sometimes it’s because two different but similar shoes look good with the outfit. That’s what happened when I put this look together! I had two pairs of cognac shoes, both with heels, and both looked great with this outfit.

The oxfords were the shoes I originally had in mind when I saw this outfit in my head. I think it’s a great fall transitional look, when the weather is starting to cool down, oh so slightly, so that it’s still warm enough for shorts but cool enough that you can wear a long sleeved shirt without melting into a pool of sweat.

Of course, the same can be said for spring, which is when I would normally wear these sandals. I decided to try them with the outfit because I’ve seen a lot of bloggers wear heels with shorts, which is a bit outside of my comfort zone but I wanted to try it anyway. I think the result is gorgeous!
